Wallace is looking for a Controller to join our leadership team and provide both hands on accounting expertise and big picture financial insight. In this role, you’ll ensure the integrity of our financial operations and play a key part in analyzing trends, refining systems, and identifying opportunities to strengthen our organization’s fiscal health.
Key Details:
- Salary: $90,000-$105,000 per year, DOE
- Schedule: Full time, Monday -Friday, with four days in office and one work from home day. As you settle into the role and meet key benchmarks, there may be opportunities for additional remote flexibility in the future.

What You’ll Do:
- Lead day to day accounting operations while maintaining a strong internal control environment.
- Manage and analyze the General Ledger, financial statements, and month end/year end close processes.
- Partner with the COO to develop financial reports, strategic forecasts, and board materials.
- Conduct high level analysis to identify financial trends and recommend process or system improvements.
- Oversee compliance with GAAP, federal grant guidelines, and other regulatory standards.
- Take the lead on external audits, ensuring preparedness and accurate reporting.
- Supervise and support the Accountant I, stepping in for payroll approvals as needed.
- Help identify and close departmental or procedural gaps through a high-level, strategic lens.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Master’s degree is a plus!).
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including leadership roles.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a solutions-oriented mindset.
- Experience with nonprofit or healthcare accounting preferred.
- Comfortable leading system and process improvements.
- Familiarity with Sage Intacct and ADP preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills and a strong command of accrual-based accounting.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
